Words tell your audience who you are and what you care about. They can be lucid or muddled. There may be a few words on a page, sent as an email, or thousands of them in a book.
The right words convey wisdom, not confusion. They let the world know you are unequivocal about your message and committed to results.
I write words for my clients that are clear, concise, and carefully chosen. All of them are relentlessly directed to your specific reader.
So tell me what you want to accomplish. I will write your words.
I wanted to be a writer when I was five years old. So I went to school and studied math and science. Then I attended the University of Toronto for a Specialist Degree in English. At Victoria College, the great Northrop Frye inspired us with words of wisdom. Finally, I set off to Western University for a Master’s Degree in Journalism. I did this so I could write something more interesting than a complex academic essay.
I completed some courses at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) because I liked advertising and editorial design. Then I went to work managing people — mostly writers, publishers, artists, editors, marketers, and communication staff.
Twenty years after my first job, I decided to be a writer.
By then, of course, I already was a writer, albeit in “disguise”. I’d written articles, newspaper columns, plays, advertising copy, even a children’s book, published by Black Moss Press and Oxford Press (Great Britain) in 1995.
Words & Solutions was created in 1999. Since then, I have worked with over 100 businesses, marketing communications studios, publishers, boutique consulting firms, Fortune 500 companies, banks, and arts organizations.
These days, I focus on book-writing. I’ve written two more as author, and ghost-written over 20 books—even some bestsellers!
Beth’s intelligence versus artificial intelligence:
I use AI as a tool for research, and platforms like Grammarly to compare style manuals. But when you hire Beth, you get me. Nothing I write is composed by a robot. The soul of your voice remains in your words.
“There are books of which the backs and covers are by far the best parts.”
